Andersen's Grand Slam Leads to a 4-2 Win

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Playing their first of three pods this season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday afternoon with a come-from-behind win against MSU Denver in Las Vegas, N.M. The weekend pod series closed with a 5-2 setback to the Cowgirls.

The Roadrunners broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the third inning with a solo home run to lead off the inning.  MSU Denver added another run in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

The Mountain Lions defense held MSU Denver to three-up, three-down in three innings before the offense took over. With one out on the scoreboard, Rayle Glover drew a walk followed by a single from Taylor Reidhead.  Now with two outs, Payton Romines drew a walk to load the bases, setting up Lexi Andersen to hit a grand slam that gave UCCS the 4-2 lead and the win.  The home run was Andersen's first of the season.
