LUBBOCK, Texas – In the second day of the Lubbock Christian University Invitational, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team lost two decisions Monday afternoon. UCCS fell 10-0 in five innings to host team LCU, before a 9-8 setback to West Texas A&M University.
In the first game of the day for UCCS, the Chaps held the Mountain Lions to three hits.

Alex Cook and
Taylor White each connected for a hit. Glover hit a single to right center in the top of the first inning, while Cook and White collected their hits in the second inning.
LCU tallied one run in each of the first, second and third innings before taking a commanding lead in the fourth inning. The Chaps crossed home plate seven times on four hits in the fourth inning. Three of their four hits were doubles and all came with two outs in the field.
Braelyne Crenshaw started for UCCS in the circle. Crenshaw fanned two batters while five earned runs were scored on nine hits.
Taylor Reidhead closed the game, pitching for the final out and allowing two hits. All four runs scored on Reidhead were unearned.
UCCS jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the Mountain Lions final game of the Invitational and their second time facing WTAM.
Melissa Martinek scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch.
Lexi Andersen gave UCCS a 3-0 lead off a single up the middle that brought home Glover from third base and Cook from second base.
WTAMU cut into the Mountain Lions lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run. The Buffs took the lead away from UCCS, 5-3, after scoring three runs in the second inning.
Anderson added another run batted in when she doubled to right center to score
Saleen Quinonez in the third inning. Quinonez was pinch running for Reidhead who led off the inning with a single.
Trailing 7-4 after three complete innings, UCCS continued to score runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Glover went yard in the fourth inning to bring home Martinek and bring UCCS within one run, 7-6. The Buffs chipped in two more runs to extend their lead to 9-6 in the fourth inning.
Martinek started the comeback in the sixth inning when she led off with a home run to right field. With two outs and runners on the corners, Andersen singled to left field that brought home Glover for the Mountain Lions eighth run of the game.
WT's defense held UCCS to three-up, three-down in the top of the seventh inning to thwart a Mountain Lions comeback.
Martinek and Andersen both went 3-for-4 at the plate. Martinek finished with three runs scored and a run batted in while Andersen drove in four runs. Glover scored three runs and drove in two more on two hits.
Cami Duffey pitched the first three innings for UCCS, allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out three batters. Reidhead entered the game in the fourth inning, holding the Buffs scoreless on two hits.
UCCS (3-5) will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla. and Edmond, Okla. Feb. 16-17 for the OCU/UCO Invite.
