Mountain Lions Dominate Cowgirls, 80-47

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – All nine Mountain Lions scored at least three points as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team dominated New Mexico Highlands University Friday night in Las Vegas, N.M., 80-47. 
 
The win improves UCCS to 9-11 overall and 8-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The 33-point win is the largest by UCCS this season.
 
Madi Gaibler came off the bench to lead all scorers with 17 points.  Gaibler made 8-of-11 from the floor and added five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
 
The Mountain Lions jumped to a 10-0 lead right from the tip.  Chelsea Pearson hit two of her four three-pointers in the game and Gaibler added two baskets to give UCCS a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game.
 
The 10-point lead was the largest for UCCS in the first half as they took a 35-32 lead into halftime. 
 
The Mountain Lions broke the game open midway through the third stanza and went on a 24-4 run that carried into the fourth quarter.  All 24 points came from the floor as UCCS made 11 field goals, including treys from Kelly O'Flannigan and Gaibler.
 
UCCS' biggest lead of the game was 35 points with two minutes left in regulation.
 
All 12 of Pearson's points came from three-point range.  She dished out four assists and pulled down nine rebounds. 
 
Forty-six of the Mountain Lions 80 points came from the bench.  Bo Shaffer and Maddie Golla registered 10 and 11 points , respectively. Golla sank three three-pointers and pulled down seven rebounds.
 
UCCS dished out 25 assists tonight, the second most by any RMAC team this season.  O'Flannigan handed out a game high five assists, followed by four assists from Jae Ferrin and Tatum Tellin.
 
The Mountain Lions made 32-of-70 field goals (45.7 percent) and 12-of-28 from three-point range (42.9 percent).  Only four points came from the free throw line as UCCS made all four attempts.
 
New Mexico Highlands was led by Allyah George's 13 points.
 
UCCS will play at Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.
