GOLDEN, Colo. – Holding on to a two-point lead with 1:46 left in regulation, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball lost by three points at Colorado School of Mines Saturday night. The loss is the second straight setback for the Mountain Lions by five or fewer points.

Anna Davern for a driving layup that gave UCCS a 60-58 lead with less than two minutes left in regulation but the Orediggers came from behind after making six straight free throws. Mines' Denali Pinto sank a free throw with 11 seconds left in the game to give CSM a 64-61 lead, but the Mountain Lions were only able to attempt one shot from the floor before the Orediggers were sent to the line to close out the game.
Abby Feickert and Baker led the Mountain Lions with 13 points each. Feickert earned a double-double with 10 rebounds after pulling down five on each end of the court.
Madi Gaibler added 12 points and eight rebounds, while
Anna Davern collected nine rebounds, six points and tallied three of the Mountain Lions five blocks.
UCCS shot 32.9 percent from the floor (23-of-70), 17.6 percent from behind the arc (3-of-17) and 63.2 percent from the charity stripe (12-of-19).
The Mountain Lions snagged six more rebounds than Mines, 49-43, and dominated the paint, netting 32 points to Mines' 16 points. UCCS' bench outscored CSM, 25-7, behind Baker's 13 bench points.
Colorado School of Mines (6-4, 3-2 RMAC) was led by Pinto's 22 points.
UCCS (1-10, 0-5 RMAC) will return to action in the New Year when they travel to play Dixie State University and Westminster College Jan. 3-4.
