UCCS had a tough weekend, losing to both Colorado Mesa University and Western Colorado University. Both games the Mountain Lions had a hard time finding a rhythm, shooting only 25 and 28 percent, respectively, in both match-ups. Chelsea Pearson led the team in points against Mesa with nine points and blocked two shots. Madi Gaibler and Ellie Moore helped the Mountain Lions with second chance points with 12 rebounds each for the weekend. Abby Feickert had a strong night Saturday going 2-2 from downtown and 40 percent from field goal range to total eight points for the night.
THE SERIES

The Mountain Lions faced the Rangers last December and lost 44-54, the series record for UCCS vs. RU is 20-31 in favor of RU.

UCCS last matched up with CCU a year ago where they won at home 74-53, which has them leading the series 29-18.
SCOUTING REPORT

Last weekend Rangers junior Whitney Jacob opened the conference season with a career high 31 points. Jacob is a strong offensive player shooting 36.9 percent from field goal range, 41.2 percent behind the arc, and 71.1 percent at the free throw line. She also averages 7.9 rebounds a game.

The Cougars had their first win of the season last week and Sam Nunez contributed to 22 of their 96 points. She is averaging 14.5 points a game while shooting at 41.1 percent from field goal range and 31.4 percent behind the arc.

Chelsea Pearson continues to kill her three-point game ranking No. 7 in the RMAC for three-point field goal percentage with 35.9 percent and averaging two three-pointers a game putting her at No. 10 for three's made per game.

Freshman Ellie Moore ranks No. 9 in blocks with 1.00 per game.

Madi Gaibler sits at No 4 for most blocks in the conference, averaging 1.3 a game.
UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH LYNN PLETT

Lynn Plett returns in 2019-20 for his fourth year on the sideline for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The 2018-19 season finished with a six-way fourth place finish in the RMAC regular season standings with a 12-10 conference record and a 13-15 overall mark. Off the court, the Mountain Lions received their first RMAC Brechler Award, besting all 16 teams in the conference with a 3.660 grade point average.

Plett spent four seasons at Northern Kentucky, where the Norse qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitational postseason tournament each season during the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. He served on the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee from 2007 through 2011.

Plett was the head coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, from 2002 through 2007, and his teams qualified for three NCAA Division II Tournaments in his career. Plett entered Division II coaching at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, in 1994, where he also doubled as athletic director. He won the GLVC championship and was named GLVC Coach of the Year in his first season and coached an All-American, two-time conference player of the year and a two-time NCAA Division II scoring leader.
