UCCS closed out their second week of play in Texas in the Lubbock Christian Classic. The Mountain Lions lost to both No. 2 Lubbock Christian University and St. Mary's University. Tatum Tellin had a strong defensive game against LCU leading the team with six rebounds, but the Roadrunners out shot UCCS 44.6 percent to 33.9 percent from field goal range and our 43.5 percent to our 31.6 percent from three-point range. Abby Feickert had a great game against St. Mary's tallying 22 points, four coming from behind the arc, accompanied by six rebounds, two assists, and a steal. St. Mary's forced 17 turnovers from UCCS and were able to capitalize on 10 steals.
THE SERIES

The Mountain Lions have only played SFU once before back in 1997, falling at home 49-72.

UCCS will be playing the Vikings for the first time in program history this Saturday.
SCOUTING REPORT

Ozimoma Nwabuko is a 5-foot-11 junior post that produces offensively and defensively for the SFU Clan. Currently she hits 55.9% field goals taken, and 55.6% free throws while also averaging seven rebounds a game and already has 15 steals for the season.

WWU shows they are a strong shooting team with four players averaging double digits in points every game.

Dani Iwani is a strong leader for the Vikings making 9-of-22 three-pointers taken this season, making her shooting percentage just over 40 percent from downtown. She also leads her team with 23 assists for the season.

Chelsea Pearson is No. 10 in the RMAC for both three-point field goal percentage and three-pointers made per game (33 percent, 2.0 three-point field goals per game).

Freshman Ellie Moore stays at No. 7 in the RMAC for blocks with 1.5 blocks a game, coming out of the weekend with a total of five for the season.

Abby Feickert is tied for No. 1 in the RMAC in free throw percentage shooting (10-for-10) and is No. 7 for three-point percentage (40 percent).

Madi Gaibler enters the week No. 9 in the conference in assists averaging 3.5 a game.
UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH LYNN PLETT

Lynn Plett returns in 2019-20 for his fourth year on the sideline for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The 2018-19 season finished with a six-way fourth place finish in the RMAC regular season standings with a 12-10 conference record and a 13-15 overall mark. Off the court, the Mountain Lions received their first RMAC Brechler Award, besting all 16 teams in the conference with a 3.660 grade point average.

Plett spent four seasons at Northern Kentucky, where the Norse qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitational postseason tournament each season during the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. He served on the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee from 2007 through 2011.

Plett was the head coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, from 2002 through 2007, and his teams qualified for three NCAA Division II Tournaments in his career. Plett entered Division II coaching at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, in 1994, where he also doubled as athletic director. He won the GLVC championship and was named GLVC Coach of the Year in his first season and coached an All-American, two-time conference player of the year and a two-time NCAA Division II scoring leader.
