Men's Soccer hosts Regis for Senior Night, then Finishes the Season at S.D. Mines.

This Week's Games
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team will play one game at home and one game on the road for the final weekend of the regular season.
  • On Friday, November 1, UCCS will play host to Regis University for Senior Night. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • On Sunday, November 3, UCCS will be in Rapid City, S.D. taking on South Dakota School of Mines (SD Mines) at 1:30 p.m.
Game Coverage Last Time Out
  • UCCS fell in a close game to Metropolitan State University of Denver on Friday by a score of 0-1. The Mountain Lions surrendered an early goal in the eighth minute to MSU Denver's Jerry Gutierrez, which proved to be the game winner.
  • UCCS outshot MSU Denver 14-12 in the game including 11-6 in the first half and 5-4 in shots on goal. The Mountain Lions also had eight corner kicks to MSU Denver's three.
  • Alex VonHolle led all players in shots and shots on goal with four and two respectively. Adam Baldwin and Kolby Raineri finished with identical stats lines of three shots and one shot on goal.
  • Liam McGuire, Parker McClure and Jack Mills rounded out the shots for UCCS with two, one and one, as Mills' shot was a shot on goal.
  • Keeper Scott Jensen recorded three saves in the game as well.
  • The game against Colorado Christian University was postponed due to weather and the rescheduled game has not yet received an official date and time.
RMAC Record/Standings
  • UCCS now has an overall record of 5-8-1 and a conference record of 4-7. Those numbers keep them in the ninth position of the RMAC as they are now four points back of MSU Denver.
The Series
  • Against Regis, UCCS has an all-time record of 16-39-8. In their last 10 matchups, UCCS has a favorable 5-4-1 record. Earlier this season, the Mountain Lions dropped a very close game to Regis by a score of 3-4 and will look to avenge that loss on Friday for Senior Night.
  • Against SD Mines, UCCS has an undefeated 6-0 record. In those six games, UCCS has not allowed a single goal while scoring 12 themselves.
Scouting the Opponent
  • Regis currently owns a 9-5-1 overall record and an 8-3 record in the RMAC, good enough for third in the conference. The Rangers have scored 35 goals on 275 shots (126 on goal) and allowed 17 goals this season.
  • Regis also has 30 assists, 100 corner kicks four penalty goals, and a shots on goal percentage of 45 percent.
  • Individually, Parker Klein, Ben Shepherd and Pascal von Matthey lead the offense for the Rangers. Klein leads the team in goals and points with seven and 25 respectively. Shephard only has two goals but leads the team with eight assists for his 12 points which is second on the team. Von Matthey ranked second on the team in goals with five and adds two assists for his 12 points.
  • Goalkeeper Tim Dolan has spent most of the season in net for Regis and has racked up 35 saves and a save percentage of 72.9 percent.
  • SD Mines has struggled this season as they currently have a 3-11-1 overall record, which includes a 2-9-1 record in the RMAC. The Hardrockers have scored 12 goals on 120 shots (56 on goal) and allowed 45 goals this season.
  • SD Mines also has five assists, 50 corner kicks and a shots on goal percentage of 46.7 percent.
  • Individually, Brenden Sherwin and George Martinez lead the offense to SDSM. Sherwin leads the team in goals and points with three and seven respectively, while Martinez ranks second on the team in those categories with two goals and five points. Nick House leads the team in assists with two.
  • Goalkeeper Tyler Ring has played most of the minutes in the net for SDSM and has accumulated 72 saves and a save percentage of 68.8 percent.
Hot Takes
  • It was a tough game for UCCS as they failed to find the net against MSU Denver.
  • Senior Alex VonHolle paced the offense with four shots and two shots on goal, bringing his season totals 52 and 26 respectively on the season, both of which lead the team.
  • Redshirt sophomore Adam Baldwin three shots including one shot on goal in Friday's game, bringing his season totals to 31 and 12 respectively this season, both of which rank second on the team.
  • Freshman Kolby Raineri also had three shots and one shot on goal against MSU Denver, giving him 19 shots and eight shots on goal this season, which is tied Liam McGuire for the third most on the team for each category respectively.
  • Scott Jensen recorded three saves against MSU Denver, giving him 41 for the season.

  • The forecast for Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday, November 1 shows mostly sunny skies and a high of only 32 degrees. Winds are expected to gust up to 10 miles per hour.
  • The forecast for Rapid City, S.D. on Sunday, November 3 shows partly cloudy skies and a high of 48 degrees. Wind is expected to gust up to eight miles per hour.
RMAC Leaders
  • Alex VonHolle ranks first in the RMAC in shots (52, tied), shots per game (3.71), shots on goal (26), shots on goal per game (1.86), assists (seven, tied) and assists per game (.500, tied). He also ranks second in points (19), third in points per game (1.36), fifth in goals (six, tied) and goals per game (.429).
  • Liam McGuire ranks sixth the RMAC in assists (five, tied), seventh in assists per game (.385), ninth in points per game (.85) and 10th in points (11).
  • Keeper Scott Jensen ranks eighth in saves per game (3.42) and ninth in goals allowed (24, tied), goals against average (1.948) and saves (41).
UCCS Under Head Coach Brian Miller
  • UCCS is now 15-14-4 with coach Miller at the helm. The Mountain Lions will look to finish the regular season on a high note this weekend.
