Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team fell in an exciting four-set match to Colorado State University-Pueblo Saturday night in Gallogly Events Center (22-25, 18-25, 25-19, 23-25).
The ThunderWolves started Saturday night strong with wins in the first two sets, holding the Mountain Lions to just a .108 hitting percentage in the second set. But UCCS found their stride in the third set fighting neck and neck with nine ties to win the set.
Leading the entire fourth set and holding on to a 23-18, the ThunderWolves stormed back to close out the set on a 7-0 run.
Lauryn Shockley led the team with 17 kills.
Hannah Ammerman helped offensively with 14 kills on 39 attempts and only one error resulting in a .419 hitting percentage. With
Raelynn Edge crafting 38 assists.
Protecting the backline,
Jordyn Kinsey and
Aly Morgan put in the work with a combined 25 digs, but Brooke Schilling proved to be a dominate presence on the court for the ThunderWolves leading the team with 20 kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
The Mountain Lions are back on the road next weekend as they play Colorado Christian University and have a second shot with #15 Regis University.
