ST. GEORGE, Utah – In their final match of the 2018 Dixie State University Volleyball Classic, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team fell in four sets to Western New Mexico University Saturday afternoon. UCCS moves to 2-6 overall while the Mustangs improve to 3-4.
Three Mountain Lions notched at least double digit kills with
Alyssa Brinton and
Lauren Brown leading UCCS with 12 kills each. Brown committed only one error on 19 attempts for an impressive .579 hitting percentage.
Taylor Smith added 10 kills and assisted on three blocks defensively.
Raelynn Edge posted 37 of the Mountain Lions 39 set assists. UCCS ended the four-set match with 41 kills and a .205 hitting mark.
Jordyn Kinsey and Brinton combined for 19 digs.
Aly Morgan and
Lauryn Shockley each served up two aces as UCCS tied for a season high six aces.
The Mountain Lions will open conference play Sept. 7 at Colorado Christian University at 7 p.m., and Sept. 8 at Regis University at 5 p.m.
