GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday evening, falling to Colorado School of Mines 95-83 in the quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament.
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field, but it was the free-throw shooting that proved to be the difference that the No. 3-seeded Orediggers went 24 of 28 at the line as No. 6-seed UCCS went 10 of 14.
Elijah Ross paced the Mountain Lions with 24 points, going 8 of 16 from the field and 6 of 7 at the free-throw line while adding five assists, a steal, and a blocked shot.
Isaiah Wilson, a freshman, added 14 points as senior
Justin Smith scored 10 points for UCCS, who were making their sixth-straight postseason appearance.
Mines were led by Duke Douglas' game-high 29 points, who went 12 of 15 from the field which included a perfect 3 of 3 from beyond the arc.
The loss gives UCCS a final record of 12-10 while the Orediggers advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
