Mountain Lions Win Fourth Straight Game

COLORADO SPRINGS – Blend Avdili scored a game high 24 points Monday night to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team to their fourth straight win.  The Mountain Lions rolled past Northern New Mexico College in Gallogly Events Center, 99-82.
 
With the home win and the Mountain Lions third straight win in Gallogly, UCCS improves to 6-5 on the season, while the Eagles drop to 7-12.
 
The Mountain Lions never trailed the Eagles and led by as many as 27 points in the first half.  UCCS took a 58-35 lead into halftime after shooting 61.1 percent from the floor (22-of-36) and 53.8 percent from three-point range (7-of-13). 
 
NNMC made a run in the second half to cut the Mountain Lions lead down to 12 points, but UCCS had another strong shooting half, knocking down 51.9 percent from the floor (14-of-27), including 10-of-14 from the charity stripe.
 
All 11 Mountain Lions that saw action tonight scored at least two points. 
 
Padiet Wang hit 6-of-8 field goals for 13 points and pulled down five rebounds. 
 
Ed Bourke and Dalton Walker each tallied 10 points.  Bourke was perfect from the floor (4-of-4) and the free throw line (2-of-2). Guard Isaiah Wilson came off the bench to contribute nine points and four assists.  Point guard Brandon Malone added eight points and a game high six assists.
 
The Mountain Lions posted 23 assists on 36 field goals, and forced the Eagles to commit 16 turnovers, leading to 25 UCCS points.
 
NNMC was led by Estevan Martinez' 16 points and four rebounds.
 
UCCS will return to action Jan. 4-5 when they play host to Dixie State University and Westminster College.
