ST. GEORGE, Utah – For the third time this season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team was handed a 3-1 setback by Dixie State University. The No. 7 seed Mountain Lions lost to No. 2 seed DSU Tuesday evening in St. George, Utah in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament.
The Trailblazers edged UCCS in the first set, 26-24, followed by a 25-21 win in set two. UCCS came back in the third set to prevent the shutout, 25-19, but fell in the fourth set to the RMAC Co-Champions, 25-18.
Taylor Smith led the Mountain Lions with 19 kills on 40 attempts. Smith's 19 kills and 40 attempts were a season for her. Smith was also a force at the net defensively, assisting on eight blocks and adding a block solo.
As a team, UCCS blocked 12 DSU attacks. DSU entered the match as the national leader in blocks but were held to only seven tonight.
Lauryn Shockley added eight kills, six digs and an assist. Forty-one of the Mountain Lions 49 assists came from
Raelynn Edge. She also posted the second most digs on the team with seven.

Jordyn Kinsey dug up a team high 13 attacks and added four assists. At the net,
Lauren Brown contributed five kills while assisting on six blocks.
UCCS finished with 51 kills, 18 of which came in the first set followed by 11 kills each in the next three sets.
The Mountain Lions close out the season with a 12-15 overall record.
