COLORADO SPRINGS – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team fell short at home Friday night to Colorado Mesa University, 3-0 (21-25, 12-25, 19-25). The loss moves the Mountain Lions to 11-13 on the year. UCCS holds at seventh place in the conference standings with a 9-7 record.
UCCS was held to 29 kills and a .091 hitting mark. The Mountain Lions notched 14 kills in the first and added a 51 sideout percentage but were held to five kills and a .032 hitting mark in the second set.
Raelynn Edge posted 21 set assists for UCCS and dug up four attacks.
Alyssa Brinton paced the offense with seven kills.
Aly Morgan,
Josie Russell and
Taylor Smith each chipped in four kills. Morgan added seven kills while Russel posted two block assists.
The Mountain Lions defense was led by
Jordyn Kinsey's 10 digs. She added 13 serve receptions and did not commit an error.
CMU hit .301 offensively behind 46 kills and added six team blocks. Kasie Gilfert led both teams with 20 kills on 28 attempts (.643 hitting percentage).
UCCS will play their final home match on Saturday against Western State Colorado University at 5 p.m. Following the match, UCCS will recognize senior
