Men's Basketball Takes No. 20 Fort Lewis to the Limit

UCCS gave the nationally-ranked Skyhawks all they could handle in an 85-76 setback

DURANGO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team gave No. 20 Fort Lewis all they could handle in an 85-76 setback on the road Saturday night.

The Mountain Lions opened the game with a 14-2 run, but the home standing Skyhawks rallied as the two teams swapped the lead a total of nine times throughout the game.

Nationally-ranked Fort Lewis managed to pull away late, outscoring UCCS 15 to 6 over the final five and a half minutes to seal the win.

Elijah Ross and Padiet Wang led the Mountain Lions, scoring 20 and 19 points respectively. Ross came just two rebounds and three assists shy of a triple double on the night after shooting 6 of 11 from the field and 6 of 7 at the free throw line.

Wang was 9 of 15 while hauling in five rebounds and being credited with three assists and two blocked shots.

The setback puts UCCS at 5-10 overall and 2-7 in the RMAC as they return home this Friday to take on New Mexico Highlands at 7:30 p.m.
