DALLAS – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team wrapped-up their Texas road trip with a 2-1 setback on Saturday against Dallas Baptist.
The Mountain Lions got on the board first with less than two minutes remaining in the first half when freshman Kelsey Lanahm slotted her shot inside the left post after finding herself in space on the right side.The goal was her first of the year as well as the team's first of the season.
UCCS's lead lasted less than ten minutes into the second half with the Pioneers' McKenna Namken scored the equalizer, making it a 1-1 game.
In the 82
nd minute, Dallas Baptist's Jamye Woodfill broke the stalemate to earn the non-conference win.
The Mountain Lions were outshot in the contest 16 to 10 as both teams placed half of their shots on frame.
Ella Fisher paced UCCS with two shots on goal and four shots overall as
Anna Gregg added two shots and one shot on goal.
In goal,
Taylor Proctor played the full 90 minutes, making six saves in the loss as UCCS slips to 0-2 on the early season.
The Mountain Lions return to make their home debut next Saturday, Sep. 9 when they host Seattle Pacific at 1 p.m. The game is the first of a lengthy five-game home stand for UCCS.
