GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –

The Mountain Lions (3-16, 2-12 RMAC) lost 9-1 in game one and 12-4 in the second game against the Mavericks (18-4, 11-2 RMAC) at the CMU Softball Field.
Weber singled to lead off the fourth inning in game one for UCCS and later scored on a single by
Nikki Hoffman up the middle. The two earned the lone hits for the Mountain Lions in the first game and cut the Maverick lead down to 5-1 before Colorado Mesa added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth in the run-rule decision.

The Mavericks scored eight runs in the first and second innings for an early 8-0 lead against UCCS.

Claire Nibbe started the fourth inning with singles, and after
Amanda Nobles pinch ran for Waidler, the pair scored on a two-out single by Weber and cut the Colorado Mesa lead to 8-2. The Mavericks added one more run in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-2 advantage. Waidler cut the game down to a five-run difference at 9-4 with a two-RBI single to drive in
Makenna Smith and Hoffman, but Colorado Mesa scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the run-rule decision, 12-4.
