COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team fell at home Saturday night to Regis, 70-66, in a close RMAC meeting.
The Mountain Lions played the one-loss Rangers close throughout the night.
Trailing by seven with 8:12 remaining, UCCS went on a 12-3 run to tie the game at 60 with 4:54 left. However, the Mountain Lions would never take the lead as the Rangers finished the game by outscoring the home team 10 to 6.
Brandon Malone scored a team-high 19 points for the Mountain Lions, going 6 of 12 from the field which included 5 of 10 from long range, in addition to hitting both of his two free-throws.
Jonathan Barnes and
Justin Smith added 12 points each as
Elijah Ross scored 10 points in the setback.
Both Barnes and Smith posted double-doubles with Barned grabbing 11 rebound and Smith hauling in 10.
The Rangers' Christian Little led all scorers with 22 points.
With the loss, the Mountain slipped to 4-6 overall and are now 1-3 in the RMAC. The team will travel to take on Colorado Christian next Saturday. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
