GUNNISON, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team fell on the road to Western State, 74-62, Saturday night.
The homestanding Mountaineers used an 11-0 run over a nearly five minute span in the third quarter to take the lead for good after UCCS led by two. The run was capped by a jumper from Katie Dalton, who scored 10 points in the game.
For UCCS, Abby Feickert led the team with a game-high 15 points after hitting 4 of 8 from the field, which included 2 of 4 from long range. The freshman also went 5 of 6 at the line.
Madi Gaibler also shot 50 percent from the field, chipping in 12 points as
Shanah Leaf notched 10 points for the Mountain Lions.
Western was led by Jadyn Kanzler, who scored 11 points as three players scored 10 points.
The result puts the Mountain Lions at 2-5 in conference action and 2-10 overall.
UCCS will travel to take on Adams State for their first game of 2018 on Jan. 5 in Alamosa. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
