GUNNISON, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team fell 77-72 Saturday night to Western State in RMAC action.
After leading by three points with 4:34 remaining in the game, the Mountaineers used an 8-0 over the next 2:08 to take the lead, earning their second conference win of the season.
UCCS led by as much as 16 points in the first half, but were unable to hold off Western, who shot 42.3 percent from beyond the arc, going 11 of 26.

Elijah Ross led the Mountain Lions with 15 points each as Malone went 6 of 11 from the field. Ross made 13 of 14 at the free-throw line.
Jonathan Barnes was a force on the board, collecting 12 rebounds with 10 coming on the defensive end.
The setback puts UCCS at 4-9 overall while slipping to 1-6 in conference play. The team is back in action on Jan. 5 when they visit Adams State for a 7:30 p.m. game.
