COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will look to extend on back-to-back home wins against its second nationally-ranked opponent of the season when the Mountain Lions (5-8, 4-4 RMAC) take on No. 20 Fort Lewis (12-3, 7-2 RMAC) tonight at 7:30 p.m., in the Gallogly Events Center.
The Mountain Lions have shot better than 50 percent in the last two victories against Western State and Adams State, and recorded their best three-point performance in the Gallogly Events Center history last night with 60.7 percent. Fort Lewis is second in the RMAC in holding opponents to 40.7 percent shooting while leading the league with a 52 percent clip on the offensive side. UCCS has improved by nearly two percentage points in the last two games to 44.9 percent.
Elijah Ross recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 assists last night. The 10 assists tied his career high and tied for the best performance in the RMAC this season. It also marked the seventh-best performance in UCCS program history.
The Skyhawks won 12 straight games, and scored more than 100 points in three of those games, before back-to-back setbacks last Saturday and last night. Fort Lewis leads in the RMAC and is eighth in Division II in scoring offense, and is sixth in the nation in field goal percentage.
Fort Lewis has two of the top three scorers in the RMAC, with conference leader Rasmus Bach's 19.7 per game and Joshua Blaylock's 19.5 per game. Will Morse is leading the conference with 5.3 assists per game, Riley Farris is second in the conference with a 59.2 field goal percentage, and Brandon Wilson is third with 8.2 rebounds per game.
