COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ā The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team opens the season at home this weekend with games against No. 16 Angelo State and Wayne State.

UCCS takes on the nationally-ranked Belles on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in their season opener before entertaining Wayne State two days later on Sunday at 4 p.m.

SCOUTING UCCS (0-0-0)
The Mountain Lions return a solid core of players from last season, who finished with an 11-7-2 and a 6-3-2 mark in the RMAC.

Senior forward
Michaela Mansfield will look to lead UCCS up top after being named the RMAC's Preseason Player of the Year award. Last season, Mansfield led the team and conference with 21 points (9 goals, 3 assists).

SCOUTING ANGELO STATE (0-0-0)
The Belles, who went 14-4-1 in 2015, ended the season with a 1-0 loss to St. Edwards in the second round NCAA tournament.

Offensively, Angelo State is led by All-American Haley Mendel, who paced the Belles with 23 points (10 goals, 3 assists) a year ago.

The team will be starting a new goalkeeper this season as junior Lauren Eshelman is the top returner with one game under her belt in 2015.

The Wildcats are looking to rebound from a 4-11-3 finish last season, having been picked to finish 11
th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this year.
