COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ā The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team opens the season at home this weekend as they entertain Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State at Mountain Lion Stadium.

The Mountain Lions open the season against Lubbock Christian on Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on Midwestern State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

SCOUTING UCCS (0-0-0)
The Mountain Lions are coming off a successful 2015 season that saw the squad finish 13-5-0 overall while finishing tied for second place in the RMAC with an 8-2-0 mark. The 13 wins was a program record for most wins in a season.

UCCS returns
David Meyer, who made 11 starts in goal last season as the junior will look to build on a strong 2015 season. Last year, Meyer logged 913 minutes as he recorded three clean sheets while posting a .818 saves percentage.

J.R. Calhoun returns for his final year after leading the Mountain Lions with 17 points (7 goals, 3 assists) in 2015.

The Chaparrals are coming of an 8-7-2 season in 2015 while notching a 3-5-0 mark in Heartland Conference.

Lubbock Christian will look to replace their top three points earners from last season as Mickey Brunton comes back after finishing fourth on the team with 10 points (2 goals, 6 assists).

In goal, Fernando Rios returns for the Chaparrals after making five appearances last season. In his five games, Rios posted a .600 saves percentage while allowing 1.96 goals per game.

SCOUTING MIDWESTERN STATE (0-0-0)
The Mustangs open their season at Fort Lewis on Friday before Sunday's game against UCCS. The team is coming off a 17-1-1 season in 2015 which saw Midwestern make a run to the third round of the NCAA tournament which fell to Colorado Mines in overtime, 4-3.

Midwestern enters the season with a new group of forwards as the top points earner from 2015 is junior Laurence Chamberlin, who notched three goals and two assists in 18 appearances off the bench.

The Mustangs return a trio of goalkeepers that combined for eight shutouts last season and averaged a 0.93 goals against average.

UCCS will east to Kansas next weekend when they visit Newman at 6 p.m. (MDT) on Saturday, Sep. 10 and Fort Hays State on Monday, Sep. 12 at 4 p.m. (MDT).
