UCCS Splits First Day of RMAC Season at Highlands

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Melissa Martinek hit her second home run of the season to break a 0-0 tie in the fifth inning and Makenna Smith scored in the two deciding runs in the top of the eighth inning as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs earned a split with a 3-1 win in the second game today at New Mexico Highlands. The Mountain Lions (4-3, 1-1 RMAC) fell in the first game of the conference season in a 5-3 decision to the Cowgirls (4-5, 1-1 RMAC).
