Mountain Lions Return Home to Face Cougars on Friday Night

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team will play to remain undefeated at home this season when the Mountain Lions (3-6, 2-2 RMAC) host Colorado Christian (6-4, 3-1 RMAC) at 7:30 p.m., on Friday at the Gallogly Events Center.

UCCS is the best rebounding team in the conference with 41.7 boards per game and has out-rebounded opponents in seven of the last eight games. Colorado Christian has struggled in rebounding with only 30.4 per game, and the Cougars' four losses have all come in rebounding disadvantages of five or more in each game. But when Christian either holds the advantage or stays within four rebounds of its opponent, the Cougars are 5-0.

The Mountain Lions' rebounding strength has been a result of a balanced attack. Eight different student-athletes are averaging three or more rebounds per game, led by TreShawn Wilford's 6.2 per game. He is 17 away from tying for No. 10 in UCCS career records and his 101 steals is already fourth in program history.

UCCS and Colorado Christian are among the top five teams in the conference-only season in field goal shooting, and are tied for a +2.8 scoring margin in the four games this year. Both teams have wins this year against Black Hills State, but UCCS won against South Dakota Mines while Christian earned victories against Regis and Chadron State.

Dimitri Saliba and Ty McGee are accounting for 45 percent of the Cougars' offense and 40 percent of the rebounds this season. Three of the team's starters are shooting better than 50 percent from the field as the Cougars rank No. 30 in Division II for field goal percentage (49.7%), No. 21 in three-point percentage (42.0%) and No. 20 in free throw percentage (77.8%).

Charlie Botnick will call the play-by-play with Mac Buckley on the color analysis on the UCCS Athletic Network. Live coverage will be available on the team's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
