COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With a home-opening win on Monday against Colorado College, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs will remain at the Gallogly Events Center for the RMAC-opening game on Friday against Black Hills State. The Mountain Lions (1-4) and Yellow Jackets (3-3) will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
UCCS is coming off a 74-63 win against Colorado College on Monday night.
Padiet Wang scored 15 points in his home debut, in his second collegiate start as a true freshman. The Mountain Lions set a new season-low with 10 turnovers and a new season-high with 13 steals. UCCS also out-rebounded its opponent for the fourth consecutive game in a 41-38 advantage against the Tigers.
Wang is leading the Mountain Lions and is sixth in the RMAC with 1.8 steals per game, helped by four steals on Monday night. He also made a season-high 15 points and six rebounds against Colorado College.
The UCCS defense held the Tigers to 63 points in the best scoring defense since 63 points by Chadron State on Dec. 19, 2015. Black Hills State is coming off its own strong defensive performances with a 72-52 win against Presentation and an 82-46 win against Johnson and Wales. The Yellow Jackets are tied for third in the RMAC in scoring defense this season with 67.3 points per game.
Black Hills State has won three straight games, all at home since Nov. 23. Zach McLemore is averaging 15.5 points per game while Sam McCloud is pulling down 8.3 rebounds per game with 1.3 blocked shots per game. The Yellow Jackets won their last game at the Gallogly Events Center 91-80 on Feb. 19, 2016, although the top two scorers from the team both graduated.

The game will be carried on the UCCS Athletic Network for xfinity subscribers on channel 20 in Colorado Springs, Prism subscribers on channel 8001 and Falcon Broadband channel 77.
