Mountain Lions Fall to Roadrunners in Final Day of Series

DENVER, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior shortstop Emily Jennings went two-of-two at the plate with a double in the first game as the Mountain Lions (14-21 / 12-18 RMAC) fell in today's two games against No. 25 Metropolitan State University of Denver (30-10 / 21-5 RMAC) at the Regency Athletic Complex. Scores went 9-1 and 8-0 for the Roadrunners in a pair of five-inning games.

Jennings doubled in the fourth inning and advanced Jordyn Cusimano to third with no outs against the Roadrunners. Dani Fonseca used a sacrifice fly to score Cusimano and put the Mountain Lions on the scoreboard and cut the MSU Denver advantage to 6-1. Tressa Radach reached base on a fielder's choice after the Roadrunners got Jennings out, and then a strikeout ended the inning for UCCS.

MSU Denver added a run in the bottom of the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning to secure the 9-1 run-rule decision in game one. The Roadrunners used a six-run performance in the third inning of the second game on their way to an 8-0 decision in five innings.

UCCS will begin a six-game home stand with a doubleheader with Division I Northern Colorado on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears (11-20-1 / 6-6 Big Sky) went 2-1 at Montana this weekend.
