Fonseca Pitches Shutout in Game Two Win at Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – Emily Jennings hit three-of-four at the plate and Dani Fonseca pitched her first shutout of the season as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (8-11 / 6-8 RMAC) won the second game of the day 4-0 at Colorado State-Pueblo (11-12 / 7-4 RMAC). The ThunderWolves won the first game of the day 13-0 in five innings.

Fonseca pitched a perfect game through the first four innings before giving up the first baserunner on a single with two outs in the fifth inning. The ThunderWolves didn't put a runner into scoring position until the sixth inning. Fonseca also added a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning as part of a three-run inning for the Mountain Lions.

UCCS recorded hits against CSU-Pueblo in the first and second innings, and scored its first run in the third inning on a double from Emily Jennings to score Nikki Hoffman. The 1-0 game lasted through the sixth inning before Fonseca's home run put the Mountain Lions ahead 2-0. Tressa Radach doubled to drive in Lexi Belligan and Rayle Glover for a 4-0 lead later in the inning. CSU-Pueblo threatened to break the shutout with a runner at second and third with one out before Fonseca threw her fifth strikeout of the day and fielded the ball for a groundout to secure the 4-0 game two win.
