Mountain Lions Go for 20th Win of Season in Pueblo

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The No. 8 University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team will go for its sixth straight win and keep its goal of an RMAC championship in sight at 7:30 p.m., tonight at Colorado State-Pueblo (14-7 / 10-5 RMAC).

A win for the Mountain Lions (19-2 / 13-2 RMAC) would secure their second straight 20-win season. Because of games in the conference last night, UCCS is a half-game behind MSU Denver after the Roadrunners defeated Colorado Mines. The number of games will even up next weekend when MSU Denver plays Regis its travel partner weekend.

UCCS won its first game against CSU-Pueblo 101-81 in the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 3, in Colorado Springs. Derrick White scored 29 points with 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots in the game. It was one of his 13 25-point games this season.

The Mountain Lions have the fifth-ranked scoring offense in Division II at 90.3 points per game, led by White's 26.3 points per game that ranks second in the nation. UCCS is also in the top 10 in the national statistics in scoring margin, field goal percentage, assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Tyrone Marshall is leading four ThunderWolves averaging double-digit scoring with 13.2 points per game and is leading CSU-Pueblo with 1.7 blocked shots per game. Bronson Moton is leading the effort in rebounding with 6.9 boards per game. The ThunderWolves have won their last three games against Black Hills State, New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico.
