COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The RMAC-leading University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team will begin a four-game road stretch on Friday night when the Mountain Lions (13-2 / 8-1 RMAC) go for their sixth straight win against Colorado School of Mines (7-8 / 2-7 RMAC). Tip-off from Lockridge Arena in Golden, Colo., is set for 6 p.m.

UCCS, ranked No. 23 in the latest NCAA Division II Media Poll and receiving votes in the WBCA Division II Coaches' Poll, holds a half-game lead in the conference standings as the league crosses the midway point of the schedule this weekend. The Mountain Lions will play nine of their final 13 regular season games on the road after starting with seven home games in the first nine RMAC contests of the year.

The Mountain Lions are on their best start in program history and have already equaled their win total from last season. The 13 victories ranks seventh in program season records with just under half of the regular season left to play. It is also the most for a coach in UCCS history in their first season on campus.

UCCS has the top scoring offense in the RMAC with 79 points per game, led by the top two individual scorers in the conference. Abby Kirchoff leads the RMAC with 21.1 points per game and is on pace to break her UCCS season scoring average record set last season. Brittany Hernandez is second with 19.6 points per game, which is on pace to be third in program records. Hernandez needs 28 points to tie for fifth in UCCS sophomore season scoring records.

Hernandez leads the conference with 9.9 rebounds per game, 56.1 percent from the field and 2.3 blocked shots per game. She is the defending RMAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week . Gabby Ramirez leads the conference with a 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio and is third in the RMAC with 4.1 assists per game.

The Mountain Lions are 2-0 in Lockridge Arena this season after opening the season against Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico in the Tony Corbetta Classic. UCCS hasn't lost in Lockridge Arena since the 2009-10 season, a streak of five games, including three against the Orediggers.

Colorado Mines will be looking turnaround a losing stretch that has seen them go 1-5 since Dec. 13. The Orediggers have three averaging double-digit scoring, led by senior Taylor Helbig with 14.6 points per game. She is also the top rebounder for Mines with 7.8 rebounds per game.
