Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior guard Derick White scored 34 points, but Colorado Mesa shot 63 percent from the three-point line to upset the No. 2 Mountain Lions 100-92 tonight in the Gallogly Events Center. It was the first loss for UCCS this season and ends a program-record winning streak at 14 games.

The Mavericks (12-4 / 7-3 RMAC) quickly took a 10-point lead by the 16:26 mark of the first half, and built it into a 14-point advantage at 23-9 with 12:47 left to play in the half. UCCS closed out the half on a 9-2 run, capped by a jumper from White right before the horn, to take a 44-43 lead at halftime.

Alex Welsh made it a four-point lead for the Mountain Lions on their first possession of the second half, but both teams played close with six ties during the first eight minutes of the half. The Mavericks used a 12-2 run to open an 11-point lead at 87-76 with 6:24 left to play, and the Mountain Lions responded with a 10-2 run late in the game to close the gap back down to four points at 96-92 with 40 seconds left in regulation. UCCS was forced to foul to stop the clock in the final seconds, and Colorado Mesa went four-of-six at the line to secure the 100-92 decision.

Welsh finished with 18 points to improve his career scoring total to 961 points, and needs 39 points to become the eighth Mountain Lion in program history with 1,000 points. Tim Billingsley added 12 points, all from beyond the three-point line.

UCCS will begin a four-game road swing next weekend at No. 9 Colorado Mines. The Orediggers (13-0 / 9-0 RMAC) defeated No. 10 MSU Denver 59-57 earlier tonight in overtime.
