Kim Catlett led the Mountain Lion offense for the second straight match as UCCS (0-3) dropped a three-set match to No. 6 West Texas A&M (2-1) in the BritKare Lady Buff Classic. Scores went 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17 for the defending national semifinalist.
Catlett finished with 10 kills and 15 digs for her third double-double of the season. She also led UCCS with three service aces for her best serving performance in nearly a year (Sept. 13, 2013 vs. Emporia State).
Cassidy Bush added nine kills for the UCCS offense.
UCCS took a 12-10 lead against the Lady Buffs in the first set, and was tied at 18-18 before West Texas A&M closed with a 7-1 run. The Mountain Lions were close with West Texas A&M at 19-16 in both the second and third sets before giving up late runs in both sets.
The Mountain Lions will close out the weekend this afternoon with Texas Woman's at 4 p.m., MDT. The Pioneers are 2-1 this weekend and lost this morning's game against Adams State in five sets.
