Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior midfielder James Roberts moved into the UCCS top 10 career records for goals and Sebastian Hertzberg scored a late goal as the Mountain Lions (2-5-1 / 1-3 RMAC) fell 3-2 to Colorado Mines (5-3 / 3-1 RMAC) on the road.
Roberts scored in the 78th minute off of a penalty kick to put the Mountain Lions on the board 16 seconds after the Orediggers scored their third goal of the game. The goal put Roberts into a tie with James Bisgard's 15 goals from 1999 through 2002, and put him within one point of entering the top 10 career records for points.Â
Hertzberg scored his second goal of the season with two seconds left in regulation on a pass from Cort Searls after a final throw-in opportunity. Hertzberg scored from 21 yards out to find the goal to close out a busy 13 minutes that saw three goals from both teams.
Roberts is in a tie for third among RMAC players for goals this season, and is on pace to finish eighth in UCCS season scoring average records with 0.50 goals per game. He needs two more goals to tie Adrian Marrero (1998-99) for ninth in career records.
Peter Vogrin made his fifth appearance at goal and made four saves. He is second in the conference in saves per game.Â
The Mountain Lions will remain on the road for the third straight game for a 4 p.m., contest at Regis on Friday. The Rangers (5-1 / 2-1 RMAC) play today at Fort Lewis.
