UCCS Falls to Western State After Early Goal

9/21/2014 6:45:00 PM

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Grace Ramsden made seven saves and Hannah Levett made four shots as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (2-3 / 1-1 RMAC) fell 1-0 to Western State (4-0-2 / 1-0-1 RMAC) today at Mountain Lion Stadium.

Western State scored the lone goal of the game in the fifth minute off an unassisted corner kick. The kick from the left side of the goal curved into the upper right corner of the net, helped by a persistent south wind.

The Mountain Lions made four shots on goal for the rest of the game, but they were all stopped by the defending conference goalkeeper of the week. Levett's four overall shots today moved her into fourth in UCCS top-10 records with 106 shots in her career.

Ramsden improved to sixth in UCCS career records with 33 saves this season, and she needs two more to tie for fifth in all-time records. She is leading the RMAC with 6.6 saves per game this season.

UCCS will have a quick turnaround in the schedule to face Colorado Christian on Wednesday night in Lakewood. The Cougars (3-1-2 / 0-1-1 RMAC) lost 1-0 today against Colorado Mines.
