Mountain Lions Drop Three-Set Match at Adams State

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. – Lauren Hahn led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with 10 kills and Cassidy Bush recorded a season-high four blocks as the Mountain Lions (3-7 / 0-2 RMAC) fell in three sets to Adams State (7-3 / 2-0 RMAC). Scores went 25-11, 25-23 and 25-21 for the Grizzlies in Plachy Hall.

UCCS had to contend with an Adams State offense that committed only one attack error in the first set and that hit .500 as a team in its home gym. The Mountain Lions had to earn all but one of their points, with three kills coming from Madison Palmer in the set. The Grizzlies took an early 9-1 lead and won the first set 25-11.

The Mountain Lions kept it closer with Adams State in the second and third sets, with five ties in the second set and three in the third. UCCS put together a four-point rally in the second set to tie Adams State at 11-11 and held off set point twice with kills from Kim Catlett and and Celeste Henderson in a 25-23 loss in the second set. In the third set, the Mountain Lions rallied from a 17-9 deficit to pull within 22-21, but the Grizzlies closed out the set in match with three straight points.

Hahn's performance was her best in a five-match span and it was her fourth match this season with multiple blocks. Palmer finished with a hitting percentage above .300 for the fourth time this season along with seven kills.

UCCS will finish its three-match road trip on Saturday night at Western State. The Mountaineers (0-6 / 0-2 RMAC) fell in three sets against Chadron State tonight.
