#8 UCCS Remains Undefeated in 99-82 Win

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 8 University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team remained undefeated on the season and improved the record to 8-0 on a 99-82 victory tonight against Adams State (3-2 / 0-2 RMAC) in the Gallogly Events Center. Junior guard Derrick White led both teams with 29 points and went 17-of-17 at the free throw line.

The Grizzlies scored on their first four possessions of the game to take an 8-5 lead against the Mountain Lions. UCCS took its first advantage of the game on a layup from Darius Pardner with 14 minutes and 37 seconds left in the first half, but Adams State retook the lead and the game went back-and-forth for the next eight minutes. White converted on four straight free throws after taking shots for an Adams State technical foul and on a personal foul to begin a 10-2 run for the Mountain Lions that put them up at 36-29 with 4:22 left in the half. UCCS closed out the half on an 11-3 run and led 47-35 at the break.

Adams State would pull within four points of UCCS near the midway point of the second half, but the Mountain Lions held a double-digit advantage through the final 6:45 to record their fifth 90-point game of the season in a 99-82 win tonight. UCCS shot 20 percent better from the field for 67 percent and 15 percent better from the three-point line with 60 percent from the first half to the second half.

White finished with a team-high 11 rebounds and was one rebound away from a triple-double with nine assists. Tim Billingsley scored a season-high 18 points off of five three-pointers and three free throws and Darius Pardner went five-of-six from the field and added a free throw for 11 points off the bench. Alex Koehler rounded out the scoring leaders with 10 points in his second 10+ game in the last three games.

UCCS will remain at home for a projected top-10 national matchup with No. 9 MSU Denver on Friday, Dec. 12. The Roadrunners (6-1 / 1-0 RMAC) defeated Regis 82-52 earlier tonight.
