10/4/2014 8:24:00 PM

Box Score CHADRON, Neb. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs trailed for only five serves, all of them early in each set, in a 3-0 sweep of Chadron State tonight at Armstrong Gymnasium. The Mountain Lions (9-8 / 5-3 RMAC) won the match with 25-18, 25-20 and 25-13 scores against the Eagles (3-13 / 2-6 RMAC).

Kim Catlett led the Mountain Lion offense for the third straight night with 14 kills. UCCS has won six of its last seven matches and the last three wins have been in 3-0 victories.

The Mountain Lions put together 4-1 and 6-1 rallies in the first set to build a 20-10 lead against the Eagles. Chadron State cut the lead in half at 22-17, but Catlett made back-to-back kills and Morgan Evans finished the set with a kill in a 25-18 opening-set victory.

Chadron State scored the first point of the second set before UCCS responded with six straight points to take the early 6-1 lead. The Eagles pulled back within two points at 20-18, but UCCS closed out the set on a 5-2 run, with three kills from Cassidy Bush in that span, for the 25-20 win.

The Mountain Lions finished the night with a .448 hitting percentage in the third set with only two attack errors. It was the fewest attack errors in a set since one in the third set against New Mexico Highlands last Saturday. The hitting percentage and 25-13 victory was the best for a single set since Oct. 17, 2013, when UCCS hit .462 and won 25-13 against Western State.

Madison Palmer hit a season-high .571 with nine kills and added nine digs for her most since the conference-opener on Sept. 18. Natasha Habert led both teams with 18 digs and Morgan Evans made 36 assists for the Mountain Lion hitters.

UCCS will have a quick turnaround for a home Tuesday night game on Oct. 7 against Regis at 7 p.m. The Rangers (12-4 / 7-1 RMAC) defeated Black Hills State today 3-1.
