Mykal Denton scored her first collegiate goal just before halftime to tie the game at 1-1, but the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (3-5 / 2-3 RMAC) gave up a second half goal to Regis (6-2-1 / 4-1 RMAC) in a 2-1 loss today at the Regis Match Pitch.
Denton's goal came less than four minutes after Regis' opening goal hit into the goal off the right post. Denton scored on a pass from
Megan Avery for Avery's team-leading second assist of the season. The Mountain Lions tied the game in the 43rd minute and went into halftime with the tie despite the Rangers' 12-2 shot advantage in the first half.
Grace Ramsden made four saves in the first half to preserve the 1-1 game, and the Mountain Lion defense kept the Rangers off the board again until late in the 80th minute of action. UCCS held a late opportunity in the 88th minute on a corner kick, but a shot from
McKenzie Oliver went high.
UCCS will be back at home for the first time in two weeks for a 2:30 p.m., game against Colorado Mesa on Sunday. The Mavericks (0-6-3 / 0-3-2 RMAC) tied 0-0 with Western State today.
