Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs answered each of the Regis goals in the first half and was tied with Division II's eighth-ranked team 2-2 at halftime, but the Mountain Lions (6-2-1 / 1-4 RMAC) allowed a late goal in a 3-2 decision to the Rangers (8-1 / 5-1 RMAC) today at the Regis Match Pitch. Roberts scored the first goal for UCCS to move into a tie for ninth in career points records.
Roberts scored his fifth goal of the season in the 16th minute with a header off a throw-in from
Conor Langenbahn to tie the game at 1-1. The goal provided two points for Roberts and improved his career total to 39 for a tie with Adrian Marrero's total from 1998-99. The goal moved him alone into No. 10 in UCCS career goals with 16 and within one of Marrero for ninth in goals records.
Regis retook the lead in the 28th minute, and
Liam Levy-Philipp used his first goal of the season to tie the game in the 35th minute unassisted.
David Meyer made two saves in the rest of the half as both teams went into intermission tied at 2-2.
UCCS took the first three shots of the second half and prevented any Regis shots for the first 15 minutes of the period. The Rangers broke through in the 80th minute off a corner kick to take the 3-2 lead, and the Mountain Lions couldn't capitalize on their own corner kick in the 83rd minute in the second loss to a top-15 team in three weeks.
The Mountain Lions will be back at home on Sunday at a noon game against Adams State. The Grizzlies (1-7 / 0-5 RMAC) lost today 4-1 at Fort Lewis.
