Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs out-shot Fort Lewis College 15-11, but the Skyhawks (4-3-4 / 3-1-3 RMAC) ended with the 2-0 decision against UCCS (5-6 / 4-4 RMAC) tonight at Mountain Lion Stadium.
Michaela Mansfield led both teams with five shots.
The Mountain Lions put half of their six shots in the first half on goal and limited Fort Lewis to only two shots with none on target in the first 45 minutes. Both teams battled drizzling conditions in the first half before the rain cleared out for the second half. UCCS opened up a 10-3 shot advantage within the first five minutes of the second half before the momentum started to shift to Fort Lewis.
The Skyhawks scored their first goal of the game with 26 minutes to play with a shot from 25 yards out from the center of the field, and expanded it to a 2-0 lead off a free kick from the right side of the field.
Hope Whitman and Mansfield put shots on goal for the Mountain Lions in the second half that were saved by the Fort Lewis goalkeeper.
UCCS will take a week off before a road game at Western State on Oct. 17. The Mountaineers (5-2-4 / 2-2-3 RMAC) won the first meeting between the teams in a 1-0 contest on Sept. 21.
