COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After a win against a top-20 team on Friday night, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team (2-1-2, 1-0-2 RMAC) will take on a top-10 team on Sunday afternoon when No. 9 Colorado Mines (4-1-1, 2-1 RMAC) visits Mountain Lion Stadium. The game is scheduled to start a 2 p.m.
While the Mountain Lions bring a three-game unbeaten streak into Sunday's game, the Orediggers will be looking to rebound after a 3-2 loss to Colorado Christian on Friday night. After both teams were tied at 1-1 with 10 minutes left in regulation, Colorado Christian scored in the 83rd minute, Colorado Mines responded with a goal 50 seconds later, and then Colorado Christian scored the winning goal less than four minutes later.
The three-game unbeaten streak for UCCS to start the conference season is the best conference start since a three-game winning streak at the start of the 2005 season. A win or a tie against the Orediggers would be the best conference start in program history, which would include the Colorado Athletic Conference era.
The Mountain Lions are one of two teams in the RMAC without a conference loss this season, the other being Metro State. UCCS is two points behind the conference-leading Roadrunners in the standings through the early season.
Sunday's game will feature two teams who don't give up lots of goals. UCCS is fourth in the conference in goals-against average, one spot ahead of Colorado Mines, and both teams have two shutouts this season. Both starting goalkeepers for both teams also have individual goals-against averages below 1.00.
Fans can follow Sunday's action with live stats or through video streaming through America One Networks. Josh Howe will provide the play-by-play commentary on America One, with the tape-delay broadcast later this week in Comcast Channel 20 in Colorado Springs
