Mountain Lions Fall to No. 7 Central Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (4-4) falls to No. 7 Central Missouri (9-0) in straight sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-14) today in the final match of the Peggy Martin Challenge.

UCCS stood toe-to-toe with the No. 7 team in the nation midway through the first set, with the Mountain Lions trailing 11-9 before the Jennies closed out the set on a 14-5 point run.

Kristen Sciacca had a strong first set, as she recorded the Mountain Lion's first three kills, and led the team in the first with four kills total.  She finished the match with a team-high eight kills, and added two assists and one service ace.

Central Missouri picked up in the second set where they left off in the first. They never trailed as they defeated UCCS 25-15 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Kim Catlett had her best set in the second with four of her seven kills in the set. Catlett also added eight digs and two block assists in the match.

The third was much like the first two, with Central Missouri gaining a lead and not letting up. The Mountain Lions battled hard, but just could not rally back, as they fell 25-14 in the third and final set.
