Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Kristen Sciacca finished with a season-high 17 kills as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (10-14 / 6-10 RMAC) fell in five sets to Chadron State (6-21 / 3-14 RMAC) tonight in the Gallogly Events Center. Scores went 20-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21 and 13-15.
Sciacca hit .382 with four errors off of 34 attempts for her 11th match of the season above .350. She moved up to seventh in RMAC hitting statistics after tonight's match.
The Mountain Lions rallied on two occasions in the first set to tie the score against the Eagles, the last time at 19-19 on a 4-1 run. A five-point Chadron State rally provided set point which eventually led to the 25-20 decision for the Eagles to open the match.
UCCS tied the match with a 25-23 victory in the second set, led by Sciacca's four kills in the set. A 7-1 run late in the second took the Mountain Lions from trailing 18-15 to leading 22-19. Chadron State tied the set at 22-22 before UCCS closed out the set with three of the final four points.
A 4-1 run late in the third set wouldn't be enough to overtake the Eagles, who would retake the match lead at 2-1 with a 25-19 win. The Mountain Lions used rallies of 6-0 and 10-3 to force a fifth set on a 25-21 victory.
UCCS took a 9-4 lead in the fifth set during a 7-1 run, helped by a pair of block assists and a kill from Cassidy Bush during the run. The Eagles tied the set at 10-10 and closed out the set at 15-13 for the 3-2 match victory.
Kim Catlett finished with 14 kills for her 11th match with double-digit kills. Bush finished with a team-high five blocks, along with two solo blocks, and Breanna Bliss used her second start of the season to lead the Mountain Lions with 17 digs.
Up Next: UCCS will play its final regular season home match on Saturday against Black Hills State. The Yellowjackets were off tonight.
