Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (9-8-1, 6-8-1 RMAC) season has come to a premature end after the Fort Lewis Skyhawks (15-4, 11-4 RMAC) defeated them by a 1-0 score in the opening round of the RMAC playoffs earlier this afternoon.
The Skyhawks attempted twice as many shots as UCCS, outshooting the Mountain Lions 16-8. FLC only managed to place four of their shots on frame however, compared to UCCS' five shots on goal.
The lone goal of the game was scored in the 18th minute when Skyhawk forward Brooke Milliet found the back of the net off an Emma Cannis assist.
Goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder was near perfect in net for the Mountain Lions as the senior made three saves in her final 90 minutes of play.
Senior midfielder Ella Bump led the attack for UCCS, landing all three of her shot attempts on net.
The Mountain Lions finish the 2013 season with a 9-8-1 overall record. The graduating seniors will leave as the most successful class in program history to date and features two All-RMAC First Team selections, the 2012 RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year, three RMAC All-Academic student-athletes, and a Capital One/CoSIDA All-District honoree.
