COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (9-5-1, 6-5-1 RMAC) will close out the regular season this weekend with a final pair of games. In their last home game of the regular season, UCCS will host a vital matchup with the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University (8-5-3, 6-5-1 RMAC) to control their own playoff future.Â
Junior forward Andrea Duke leads the Cowgirls' attack with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Duke currently sits in fifth place in the RMAC for points, goals, and game winning goals. NMHU also boasts the reigning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week in forward Anyssa Dagnino, who exploded for five goals last weekend, including a hat trick against previously ranked No. 10 Metro State.Â
Cowgirl goalkeeper Nikita Rivera ranks third in the RMAC in GAA (.566) and save percentage (.878). She has captained the Cowgirl defense all season and has recorded three shutouts in net.Â
With a win over NMHU, UCCS will clinch a bid to the 2013 RMAC tournament and ensure the right to host a first round RMAC playoff game on Wednesday. It would be only the second time in program history that the Mountain Lions host a RMAC playoff game.Â
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium. The UCCS men's soccer team will take the field immediately following the women's game, with a match against Colorado Christian at 7:30 p.m.Â
