Grizzlies up Next for the Mountain Lions

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- With only two weeks left to play in the regular season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (9-4, 6-4 RMAC) is set to host a pair of crucial matchups this weekend. Action will kick off on Friday night when the Mountain Lions square off against the Grizzlies of Adams State (5-5-4, 2-4-4 RMAC).

The Mountain Lions will look to keep the momentum rolling as they are fresh off a 3-1 win over Colorado Christian (4-10, 1-9) on Tuesday night. Five different players recorded points in the win. The dominant Mountain Lion offense boasts five different players in top ten categories in the conference, including Hannah Levett who sits in second in game winning goals (3).

Adams State split a pair of games over the weekend, dropping a Friday night match to Colorado Mesa and rebounding with a win over New Mexico Highlands University on Sunday. The Grizzlies currently sit in a three way tie for seventh place in the RMAC with both Regis and Western State.

Grizzly junior Allie Mercado leads an ASU offense that is ranked third in the RMAC with 27 goals scored in 14 games. Mercado is ranked sixth in the conference for goals individually, after netting six goals for 12 points. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Kohlts leads the ASU defense. She holds a .845 save percentage and has allowed 11 goals this season. Kohlts sits one spot behind Kelly Schroeder in three of four categories in the conference, including GAA, saves, and save percentage.

Sept. 20 was the last meeting between UCCS and ASU. The Mountain Lions moved to 4-0 on the season after walking away with the 1-0 victory. UCCS holds a 3-1-0 advantage in wins over Adams State in the all-time series record, in which they have outscored the Grizzlies 13- 6.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
