Mountain Lions Hit the Road for Two Conference Matches

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team begins a two match road trip Thursday night as the Mountain Lions travel to Durango to face the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis (5-13 / 5-5 RMAC). 

The Skyhawks are led on defense by Jenna Kinzer, who is sixth in the RMAC for digs per set (4.22), and was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago. 

The Mountain Lions combat the great defensive of Kinzer with a former RMAC Defensive Player of the Week of their own, Heather Sanders. Sanders is currently ninth in the RMAC for digs per set (4.00). Fort Lewis is led on offense by Ashley Wells, who leads the team in kills per set (3.16), and is second on the team for digs per set (2.91). 

UCCS will be back in action the following night as the team travels to Grand Junction to play Colorado Mesa (15-4 / 7-3 RMAC) on Friday. Colorado Mesa enters the weekend near the top in several statistical conference categories. They are second for assists per set (13.45), second for kills per set (14.58), second for digs per set (17.66), and third for kill percent (.231). 

The Mavericks are led on offense by Melissa Hess and Abby New who rank second and third in the RMAC for hitting percent at 3.68 and 3.39 respectively. The offense is anchored by Jordyn Moody, who ranks second in the conference for assists per set (11.51). The defense is led by Sunni Rai Baird, who currently leads the RMAC in digs per set (5.43). 

The Mountain Lions are led by Kristen Sciacca, who is fourth in the RMAC for blocks per set (.93), and fifth in the RMAC for hitting percent (.333). UCCS is also led on offense by Jordan Banich, who leads the team in service aces per set (.39), which ranks second best in the RMAC. Banich also leads the team in kills per set (2.93).
