DENVER, Colo.- A pair of second half goals proved too much for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (8-4, 5-4 RMAC) as unbeaten No. 12 Metro State (11-0-3, 9-0-1 RMAC) handed the Mountain Lions a hard fought 2-0 loss.
Metro State's Abby Rolph scored both goals for the Roadrunners today and her first of the game came in the 63rd minute off a controversial play. UCCS defender
Lency Chiles received a red card and Rolph converted for the game winning goal. With the Mountain Lions playing a man down, it only took Metro State 65 more seconds to seal the win with Rolph's second goal of the game coming at the 64:49 minute mark.
The Roadrunners outshot UCCS 23-9 in the match. Goalkeeper
Kelly Schroeder made seven saves before conceding both goals. Today's match marks only the second time UCCS has been held scoreless this season.
The Mountain Lions will only have two days of rest before their next match on Wednesday. UCCS will travel to Lakewood, Colo. to take on Colorado Christian University (4-9, 1-8 RMAC). Sept. 25 was the last meeting between the two teams and UCCS proved victorious with a 2-0 win at home.
