Catlett Records Career-High 18 Kills Against Adams State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Kim Catlett records a career-high 18 kills as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team ( 8-10 / 4-6 RMAC) falls to Adams State (9-9 / 7-3 RMAC) tonight 3-1 (25-21,25-20, 34-36, 25-17) in the Gallogly Events Center.

The Mountain Lions and Grizzlies traded points for most of the first set, with six tie scores and seven lead changes as neither team was able to gain firm control. With the score tied 18-18, Adams state went on a 7-3 run to win the first set 25-21.

The Grizzlies carried their momentum into the second game as the team held a 19-10 lead at one point. UCCS made a late run to narrow the gap, but Adams State held on to its lead to take the second set 25-20 and go up 2-0 in the match.

The third set was the complete opposite of the second, as it was UCCS that claimed a 17-10 lead. The Grizzlies made a late run, just as the Mountain Lions did the set before, but the Grizzlies were able to tie the game at 24 points apiece.

Adams State scored the next point to bring about match-point, but UCCS countered to tie the game and then go back up by one. The teams continued to trade points until the set was tied at 34. The Grizzlies then committed two consecutive attack errors which allowed the Mountain Lions win the set and extend the match.

The Mountain Lions were led in the third set by Kim Catlett, who recorded half of her career-high and team-high 18 kills. Catlett also added 12 digs and three block assists in the match.

The teams continued to trade the first 12 points of the fourth set, before Adams State went on a 14-6 run, to help clinch a 25-17 win in the set and solidify a 3-1 victory in the match.

Jordan Banich had a great overall performance in the match as she finished with 16 kills, eight digs, five block assists, and a team-high two service aces.
