LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (7-8 / 3-4 RMAC) travels this Saturday to play the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University (7-10 / 1-5 RMAC).
UCCS leads the all-time series against NMHU, 18-16 and has won the previous eight matches, dating back to Oct. 22, 2005.
The Cowgirls are led on offense this season by Alicia Moreno, who leads the team in kills per set with 3.12. Jessica Pipe leads the defense with 4.38 digs per set.
The Mountain Lions enter the match first in the RMAC for service aces per set (1.24) and third for blocks per set (1.97). The team is led by
Kristen Sciacca, who is second in the RMAC for blocks per set (.93) and fifth for hitting percent (.355).
The offense for UCCS is also fueled by
Jordan Banich, who leads the team in kills per set (2.85) and has a team-high 18 service aces, which ranks third best in the RMAC.
The team has also seen recent offensive contributions from
Laura Loosbrock, who is second on the team for kills per set (2.70), in her three matches played this season.
This will be the final road match for UCCS before the team comes back to the Gallogly Events Center next weekend for a three match home stand starting on Thursday night.
