PUEBLO, Colo. - The No. 17 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (7-2 / 3-2 RMAC) will open the 2012-13 Steel and Silver Series today when the Mountain Lions take on Colorado State-Pueblo (1-6-1 / 1-4 RMAC) today at Rawlings Soccer Complex.
Each year UCCS and CSU-Pueblo battle each other in multiple sports to see who gets a trophy at the end. The Mountain Lions and theThunderwolves split last year's meetings with each team winning on the road. The Mountain Lions won the cup last year among all sports.
Both teams are coming off 3-0 losses on Friday night, with the ThunderWolves falling to New Mexico Highlands and the Mountain Lions dropping a contest with Colorado Mines.
A win on Sunday would tie the UCCS program record for wins in a season at the midway point of the season. The Mountain Lions have posted five shutouts in the seven victories to rank No. 14 in Division II for shutout percentage and No. 16 in goals-against average.
Several Mountain Lions have the chance to improve their position in the UCCS program record charts.
Agnes Arnadottir is fifth in career points and needs one more to tie Josi Tablot for fourth. Levett needs three points to tie Arnadottir and Rather needs four points for the tie with Arnadottir.
Ashley Hooper needs two points to tie
Candice Buckles for seventh in the same list.
